How We Clean
Your Carpets
Every job follows six measurable steps — from fibre identification through hot-water extraction to a written guarantee. This is the same method recommended by every major carpet manufacturer. Total service time is approximately 2 hours for an average London flat.
The 6-Step Cleaning Process
Pre-Inspection & Assessment
We examine every room's carpet — fibre type, construction (woven, tufted, bonded), soiling level, and existing stains. We test pH and perform a small moisture-absorption check. This step determines the cleaning chemistry, water temperature, pressure, and dwell time for your specific carpet.
Different carpets need different approaches. Wool needs low-moisture and pH-neutral cleaners. Synthetics can handle higher heat and stronger pre-sprays. This assessment prevents shrinkage, browning, and fibre damage.
Dry Soil Extraction
Before any water touches the carpet, we remove dry particulate soil with a commercial-grade counter-rotating-brush vacuum. This removes the bulk of the soil load — grit, dust, allergens, and loose debris that would otherwise turn into mud during wet extraction.
Dry soil removal is the most underrated step in carpet cleaning. Removing grit before water prevents wicking, reduces drying time, and ensures the extraction step cleans fibres rather than just moving dirt around.
Pre-Spray & Agitation
A targeted pre-spray solution is applied to break down oils, protein-based soils, and traffic-lane grime. We then mechanically agitate the carpet with a rotary brush or CRB machine to work the chemistry into the fibres and lift embedded dirt from the base of the pile.
Agitation is the difference between surface cleaning and deep cleaning. The dwell time and mechanical action allow the chemistry to emulsify soils that hot water alone cannot remove.
Hot Water Extraction (HWE)
Truck-mounted or portable hot-water extraction. Pressurised water is injected deep into the carpet pile and immediately extracted along with dissolved soils, allergens, and chemical residue. Each section receives overlapping passes for even cleaning.
This is the method recommended by every major carpet manufacturer for warranty compliance. Unlike dry-cleaning or bonnet methods, HWE flushes contaminants out rather than leaving them embedded.
Post-Treatment & Protection
After extraction, we apply optional treatments: a fibre protector, an anti-static treatment for offices, or a deodoriser for pet-odour jobs. The carpet is then groomed with a pile brush to restore the nap and speed up drying.
Protector treatments create an invisible barrier around each fibre, giving you more time to blot spills before they become stains. Grooming ensures the carpet dries evenly and feels soft underfoot.
Final Inspection & Handover
We walk through every room with you — or leave a digital report with before-and-after photos for tenancy jobs. We set up air movers if needed, provide drying-time guidance, and confirm everything matches the checklist you approved.
For end-of-tenancy jobs, we provide a cleaning certificate that matches your agent's inventory checklist. Any concern raised within 48 hours gets a free return visit.
